Republican Switches to Democrats Over Gay Marriage, GOP Extremism on Eve of Wisconsin GOP Convention
Wisconsin Republicans were about to begin their state convention in Milwaukee Friday, when the Democrats already found something to crow about.
According to WisPolitics.Com, Lora Rae Anderson - a former chair of the College Republicans announced in Milwaukee that she would join the Democratic Party. And Democrats were touting that move. Anderson said the GOP has become "too extreme" for moderates. She earlier told the political news Web site that Republicans are, "alienating a younger, more progressive generation through its new conservative platform which ignores issues such as gay marriage."
She said such marriage is a civil right, and letting people do it is consistent with the GOP's platform of "government hands-off." Anderson said most College Republicans agree with that stand, but they stay quiet in deference to the party's older leaders. Charlotte Evans, the current chair of the College Republicans told WisPolitics.Com that she wished Anderson well as, "she completes her attention-seeking transition to liberalism."
